Introduction
Overseas students counseling affairs were originally under the Personal Counseling Section. With the permission from the Ministry of Education, the "Foreign Students Counseling Office" was founded in December 1973, and specialized in taking care of the counseling affairs of overseas and foreign students. In March 1995, the office changed its name to "Office of Overseas and Foreign Students," consisting of one director and several administrators. In January 2006, the new-founded Center for International Academic Exchange took charge of the affairs of foreign students. Subsequently, “Office of Overseas and Foreign Students” changes its name to “Office of Chinese Overseas Students " in August 2007.
From the day it was founded up to the present, we have had ten directors, including Foreign Language Professor Zhang Shu, Sociology Professor Zhang Cheng Han, Foreign Language Professor Cai Yuan Xing, Sociology Professor Fan Zhen Hui, Animal Science Professor Tan Tian Yang, Forest Studies Professor Luo Han Qiang, Nursing Professor Huang Lian Hua, Sociology Professor Qin Wen Li, Animal Science Professor Shi Xiu Hui, and Chinese Professor Zheng Ji Xiong.
Due to professors’ enthusiastic guidance, our office is making steady progress and moving towards establishing a comprehensive system. Our service has been well-received by students. Our Director, Mr. Zhou Han Dong, who has been at the department since August, 1960, believes that he can lead the office to a new milestone.
